Here Are The 10 Types Of People You’ll Meet If You’re Travelling In India

Most will agree with the fact the Indians are one of the most helpful and friendly bunch you'll come across when travelling in the country. While we've lost count of the number of photographs we've clicked we hardly ever pause to think about the different kind of people we've met. Let this list remind you.

1. The yaha-se-rasta-nahi-hai guy

Whether you're on the side of the road asking for directions or sitting in a shared vehicle looking for an alternate route on your own, there's a voice that stands out in the crowd. Meet the yaha-se-rasta-nahi-hai dude who always knows a better way out, and leaves you marvelling at the fact that he's turned out to be damn right.

2. The hamare-zamane-mein uncle

We love this guy. This uncle has some really cool insight on how travel has apparently evolved. Be it that blink-and-miss shop in a small city or just people he's met during all his years of travel, this uncle's got the dope. Fascinating stuff.

3. The addjusht-pliss dude

Imagine sitting in a packed train or bus holding on for dear life. Now imagine this guy who walks up to your seat, makes eye contact and breathes the words "addjusht pliss". Like there's anywhere to move. In some cases, this is implied. There are those good people though who willingly give up their seats and that leaves you with a smile.

4. The aunty who's on to you

This aunty commands respect and is the smoothest talker you'll ever find. 10 minutes in, she knows where you live, how many people you live with, what you do or did and plan on doing. Get on her good side and she'll cover your back for the rest of the trip.

5. The family that loves to share its food

You could be on a moving train or 6000ft high in the air, the family that loves to share its food, finds a way. And, no, we're no complaining - those alloo paranthaswith the aam achaar, and even pakodas can light up the dull moments.

6. The selfie twins

They're almost like the 'redrum' twins from The Shining - one takes out the camera phone, the other follows. They're shutter-happy and extremely proud. What follows is a barrage of shots from every possible angle. But to be honest, if you're looking to get your selfie right, shadowing the twins could help.

7. The photographer with the big camera and the extra lenses

We appreciate the fact that people can be so inspired by the most mundane things and actually turn that into some fantastic shots. But if you're standing next to this person, you heard him or her say 'Hold on to my bag while I change the lens,' at least once. And honestly, do we mind?

8. The free spirit

A personal favourite, the free spirit can inspire plenty of envy purely basis the fact that they make everything look like so easy. They can go anywhere, sleep anywhere, eat anything and be the best of friends with anyone. They're easily the most hassle-free bunch you'll encounter, if ever.

9. The couply-couple

So totally in to each other, this couple's happier being left alone. This is their time and their time alone. They're a lovely to have around when you want to catch up on some sleep or some reading.

10. The guy with the guitar

Never a dull moment (or a quiet one) with this guy around. Give him a chance and he'll give you some really cool music to chill with. He doesn't need much encouragement either.
